New Chair of Trustees for Long Covid Kids

We are delighted to announce that Cherie Whitby has been appointed as the new Chair of Trustees for Long Covid Kids.

Cherie brings a wealth of experience from a diverse career spanning programme management, accountancy, and law. Her extensive background includes seven years of working with Autistic young people and adults, equipping her with a strong foundation in organisation, communication, budget management, and legal compliance. Her expertise, coupled with her experience supporting individuals with disabilities, makes her an invaluable leader for our charity.

Having worked within the NHS in project and commissioning management roles, Cherie also offers a unique insight from the commercial sector, local government, and charitable organisations. This broad perspective strengthens her ability to advocate effectively for children and young people affected by Long Covid and related conditions.

Speaking about her appointment Cherie said:

I am constantly reminded of the resilience and challenges faced by the children and young people we support. Having personally experienced Long Covid since 2022, I undestand how distressing it is for children to feel unheard, struggle with daily activities, and miss out on key moments of childhood.
Through initiatives like our involvement in research with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the development of the Educational Toolkit training videos, and the support of the Cranfield Trust, we are strengthening our charity to better serve this community.
Stepping into this role is both an honour and a responsibility, and I am committed to amplifying the voices of children affected by Long Covid. They deserve recognition, meaningful support, and access to proper care. Together, we can ensure no child faces this journey alone.
