Ellie
“She’s just so down.”
For 15-year-old Ellie, a positive PCR and LFT led to 10 days of feeling poorly. Suffering from a sore throat, stomach pains, headaches and a general lack of energy, she spent most of that time in bed.
But this was just the start of Ellie’s experience with COVID.
“She feels worse now than when she first contracted it,” says Mum.
These days, Ellie has so much trouble getting to sleep due to stabbing pains in her head and tummy that it’s difficult to get up in the morning. Unfortunately, this is having significant consequences for Ellie’s education - and at a crucial time in her studies.
“Her attendance is down to 18 percent. She’s hardly been at school since November,”
says Mum.
“The teachers haven’t been particularly supportive or understanding of the situation.”
But what they don't realise is that Ellie isn’t skipping school for the sake of it; she doesn’t have the energy to ride her horse, take part in sports or do anything else she loves either.
Thankfully, Ellie’s doctors were great from the start. Running multiple blood tests and scans, the NHS has worked hard to treat her symptoms and provide a proper diagnosis for Long Covid. Ellie is now waiting to attend the Long Covid Clinic for help.
